Heath Ledger’s family responds to rumors about his death

For the first time after his death, Heath Ledger’s family decided to talk about his life and all the rumors about his role as the Joker in the Dark Knight trilogy.

They claim that for years, they have been trying to debunk myths that his death had something to do with his role. Kate Ledger, Heath’s sister, says that she has become tired of listening to same old stories over and over and that she would be happy if everyone would just stop making up stories.

Heath Ledger died in 2008 after overdosing himself on prescription drugs. Some persistent rumors have suggested that while getting into his character, he suffered from insomnia and depression, which ultimately led to Ledger taking too much medication that caused his death.

Kate told the media that she couldn’t believe how many people believe he was suffering from depression. This rumor was started right after his death, when a diary belonging to him was discovered. It holds many depressive and perverted thoughts, as well as drawings of Alex DeLarge from A Clockwork Orange, but also some menacing animals, different portraits of clown makeup, and even notes on the hospital scene where the Joker dresses up as a nurse.

He wasn’t depressed about the Joker. In fact, he loved that role!

But what many failed (or refused) to realize is that Ledger wrote this diary in order to prepare himself for the role of Joker, a psychopathic villain with a twisted mind and a distinctive personality. Kate points out that Heath enjoyed himself while writing the diary, and that he was glad with how people reacted to his performance. “I was really shocked because that was him having fun”, she said during and interview for The Telegraph. “Every report was coming out that he was depressed and that the role was taking this toll on him. But that couldn’t be further than the truth.”

She added that Heath loved life and everyone around him, and that he knew how to go through difficulties in life without shedding a tear. “He had an amazing sense of humor, and I guess maybe only his family and friends knew that. He was always having fun. He wasn’t depressed about the Joker. In fact, he loved that role!”

Ledger was praised by audiences and critics for his portrayal of Joker in The Dark Knight

A new documentary made by independent producers, titled I am Heath Ledger, premiered three weeks ago and was well received by critics. It gives viewers and fans an insight into Ledger’s life and work and was made as a tribute to him.

Ledger was praised by critics for his role as the Joker and offered to work on several other projects. However, he passed away before he could prove his talent once again. He was posthumously rewarded an Oscar and declared one of the best actors of the decade by several magazines and critics.
